From across the pond, our brand new lab

Updated: Sep 5, 2019

All the way from the UK a hand picked group of the Smith Lab has set up a brand new endocrinology lab in Australia with all the bells and whistles.

After 18 months of hard work, our brand new lab at the University of Newcastle, Australia, is now a fully fledged and data producing unit. The move began with two of our postdoctoral Research Associates, Anne-Louise Gannon and Diane Rebourcet joining Professor Lee Smith here in Australia in 2018. Following 18 months of hard and sometimes frustrating work the new team has grown to include three Research Associates, one Research Assistant, a Lab Manager on the way, and five placement students with more studentships on the horizon.

Our new lab boasts a wide variety of cutting edge equipment including but certainly not limited to; a full in house histology section, micro-injection rig used for nanoparticle and viral vector work and a top of the line QIAxcel Advanced system for capillary electrophoresis.
